Here's MORE how it is.
AKA.
Recent photos have codes in the actual file names to help you determine
if photographic prints are available. (O) or (ORIG) means the picture is
an original scan of a slide. (TONE) suggests it has been randomly color altered.
(DUO) means it was rendered from a grayscale image, to a duotone image
and reset to a RBG (Red-Green-Blue) electronic image format, because
standard TIFF files can render from duotones. The (TRI) is similarly
a tri-toned image, using three printing colors to arrive at color you see.
(2X) means it is a double exposure, usually unplanned, and (LINE) usually means
high-contrast line art. (MAP) can be GRAYSCALE (which means black and white) or RGB
implying the image has been mapped over a gradient screen, which may, or
may not have been custom constructed. (NEG) is a negative rather than a slide,
(XP) or (CP) means cross process, and (B&W), unsuprisingly, is a Black and White image
that's saved in a grayscale file. In general, if the image in question is not
marked with an (O), or (Orig), and has not come from a file folder like UNALTERED,
your chance of getting an actual, as-you-see-it photographic print somewhat plunges,
but does NOT go to zero. Earlier files on this site have no delineators at all
thus many originals remain scattered haphazardly. RESELLERS may request any file
format from the somewhat staggering array of compressed and uncompressed possibilities.
If you don't know what this means, then leave its space
decidedly blank.
Please Note that in some cases, parentheses will appear as brackets.
and the acronyms listed above will be seen in lower case.
